Now, look out notice issued against Abhishek Banerjee’s aide Sumit Roy

Kolkata, June 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) After the arrest warrant, West Bengal's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has now issued a 'look out notice' against Abhishek Banerjee's absconding executive assistant, Sumit Roy.

The West Midnapore district police had applied to the court on Monday for an arrest warrant against him in an illegal land-grabbing case.

The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Midnapore issued an arrest warrant against Sumit on Monday. On that day, Sumit approached the Calcutta High Court seeking anticipatory bail. Sumit's lawyer drew the attention of the bench of Justice Jay Sengupta. The hearing of the case is likely to be held this week.

After that, the lookout notice was issued by the CID. Following this, Sumit will be arrested if he tries to escape from any airport or port in the country.

The investigators have been searching for Sumit Roy for the past few days. But Sumit has not been found yet. The CID took the initiative to approach the Immigration Department in the illegal land-grabbing case and applied for the issuance of a look-out notice. The application was approved on Tuesday.

Last Saturday (June 13), officers from the Salboni police station arrived at Trinamool MP Abhishek's residence in Kalighat in south Kolkata early morning in search of Sumit. The police were accompanied by central forces. After waiting for a considerable time, the police broke open the lock and entered the premises.

According to sources, the last tower location trace for Sumit's mobile phone had been detected at Abhishek's house. Acting on this lead, the police raided the residence. However, Sumit was not found there. On the same day, the police also conducted a search at Sumit's in-laws' house in Serampore in Hooghly district, but failed to locate him there as well.

The police are searching for Sumit in connection with an illegal land-grabbing case registered at the Salboni police station.

Sources indicate that Sumit's name surfaced during the interrogation of Sujoy Hazra, a former Trinamool MLA from Midnapore who had been arrested earlier in a land scam case.
