Patna, June 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) The political controversy over the reduction of security arrangements for opposition leaders in Bihar intensified further on Monday after JJD National President and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, announced that he had returned the government security cover provided to him.
The move follows similar decisions taken recently by RJD National President Lalu Prasad Yadav, Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, and Lok Sabha MP Misa Bharti after the Bihar government reduced their security arrangements.
Tej Pratap Yadav shared the information through a post on the social media platform X, tagging Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
In the statement issued from his official account, Tej Pratap Yadav said he had voluntarily surrendered all government-provided security arrangements after returning to Bihar.
He also warned that the state government would be fully responsible for his safety and for any untoward incident that might occur in the future.
The statement further asserted that ensuring the safety of opposition leaders is the responsibility of the government in a democratic system.
The controversy began after the security cover of former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi was reduced by the state administration.
In protest, both leaders returned their government security despite being entitled to protection as former Chief Ministers.
Later, Misa Bharti also returned her security cover.
With Tej Pratap Yadav now joining the protest, the issue has become a major political talking point in Bihar.
Earlier, Lalu Prasad Yadav had strongly criticised the government's decision regarding the reduction in security arrangements.
Reacting to the matter, he reportedly remarked that the move reflected political hostility and said the family was unconcerned about the government's actions.
The ongoing dispute over VIP security arrangements has continued to trigger political debate between the ruling alliance and opposition parties in Bihar.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was seen travelling at various locations in Patna after the government security personnel were returned by him and his wife Rabri Devi.
