Bhopal, June 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Renowned spiritual narrator Devkinandan Thakur has strongly advocated the revival of ancient Hindu wedding traditions while sharply questioning the prevailing judicial system and temple management practices.
Speaking to the media, he highlighted the need to eliminate certain modern customs in Hindu society that deviate from scriptural injunctions, particularly night-time weddings and the consumption of alcohol during nuptials. He also called for the immediate establishment of a ‘Sanatan Board’ to oversee temple affairs.
Thakur explained that, according to Hindu scriptures, time is divided into three categories: the gods, the ancestors, and the demons. Night, he noted, falls under the domain of demons. Therefore, conducting weddings after sunset contradicts the spirit of a divine and auspicious union.
He recalled that in ancient times, marriages were solemnised during “Godhuli Bela”, the sacred twilight or daytime hours, when the “pheras” (circumambulations around the sacred fire) took place in broad daylight, ensuring purity and sanctity.
The practice of night weddings, he said, emerged as an emergency measure during the Mughal invasions when the lives and honour of daughters were at grave risk. “That emergency is long over,” Thakur asserted, adding that daughters are no longer under such threat and society must return to the pure tradition of daytime weddings, conducted without the unnecessary noise and chaos of loud celebrations.
He described marriage as one of the sixteen sacred “Sanskars” in Hinduism and warned that alcohol consumption at weddings is a highly corrupting influence that adversely affects the lives of future generations. “The greater the sanctity maintained in marriage, the stronger and more virtuous society becomes,” he emphasised.
Turning to the sensitive issue of misappropriation of funds for the Ram Mandir, Thakur issued a stern scriptural warning. He stated that anyone who misuses temple donations is condemned to be reborn as a worm in excrement for a continuous 60,000 years. “If people truly understood this, not a single rupee would be touched,” he remarked.
Thakur criticised government officials’ interference in temple administration and demanded the formation of a ‘Sanatan Board’ to be headed by one of the four Shankaracharyas. He argued that the responsibility of preserving and advancing Sanatan Dharma should rest only with knowledgeable and devout individuals.
Expressing deep dissatisfaction with the judicial system, Thakur pointed out the painfully slow pace of investigations and court proceedings. “By the time a verdict comes, even Lord Ram would be waiting for His dakshina,” he quipped.
He urged immediate action, recovery of the misappropriated funds and removal of the guilty from their positions, rather than waiting for protracted legal battles.
