Raipur, June 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has unearthed eight Naxal munition dumps in Chhattisgarh during a coordinated anti-insurgency operation, leading to the recovery of arms and explosives, officials said on Saturday.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, a joint team led by Commandant Anand Kumar carried out the operation in the dense forests of Adri, Harra, and Madumpara villages under the Pidia and Kuppaguda areas of Bijapur.
Security personnel cordoned off the region and conducted a phased sweep, ensuring no escape routes remained open. Their efforts led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and explosives that could have been deployed in future attacks against security forces.
Among the seized items were a Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) rifle, an 8 mm rifle, a 12-bore rifle, and 21 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The team also discovered IED-making materials, including cordex wire, safety fuses, electric wires, air gun rounds, and various electronic devices.
In addition, 58 assorted items, such as clothes used by Naxals, were confiscated. Officials said that the recovery has thwarted a major conspiracy aimed at destabilising the region.
The operation underscores the sensitivity of the Adri, Harra, and Madumpara belt, long considered a stronghold of Naxal activity. However, sustained campaigns by the CRPF’s Battalion have steadily eroded insurgent influence, bolstering villagers’ confidence and paving the way for development initiatives.
Notably, no casualties were reported, reflecting the precision and caution exercised by the forces.
Meanwhile, in a parallel operation in Gariaband district, CRPF and police teams uncovered another suspected Naxal dump in the Dandaipani forest. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) confirmed the presence of explosives, including a 4-kg pressure IED and a cooker IED, both safely defused.
A bharmaar rifle, interceptor, UBGL rounds, magazines, cordex wire, gunpowder, firecrackers, medicines and daily-use items were also seized, police officials said.
The CRPF reiterated its commitment to intensifying intelligence-based operations to ensure peace and security in Chhattisgarh, with the ultimate goal of making the region free from Naxal influence.
