Hyderabad, June 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Monday directed officials to collect comprehensive data on domestic servants from Nepal and other countries across the state.
Expressing concern over recent incidents involving individuals from other states, particularly Nepalese employed as domestic workers, he emphasised maintaining a structured database containing details regarding their residence and employment.
Last month, a domestic help from Nepal, along with her associates, killed the wife of a retired IPS officer at their residence in posh Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad and fled with valuables. In another incident, a Nepalese couple working as domestic help, along with their associates, tied up their employer and his wife, sedated them, and fled with 60 tolas of gold, 15 kg of silver and other valuables.
Meanwhile, the DGP has revived the "Staff Officers Meeting", a fortnightly forum for senior officers of the DGP office and HODs to discuss policies, programmes, and inter-departmental issues. The practice had fallen into disuse, resulting in a visible coordination gap across the wings of the department.
During the meeting, the DGP covered a wide agenda -- maintenance of a structured database of foreign domestic workers for better monitoring and security, CCTNS 2.0, technology-driven policing, and the adoption of AI, drones, and data intelligence systems, etc.
He extensively discussed and conducted a detailed review with senior officers and Commissioners on the reorganisation of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, Future City Commissionerates' jurisdictions, police station limits, border village divisions, and other jurisdiction-related matters. He directed officials to formulate comprehensive plans for the reorganisation of circles, zones, and villages in a manner that ensures administrative efficiency and operational effectiveness.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of CCTNS 2.0, strengthening of the police system, modernisation of existing manual processes, and future policing initiatives. It was decided tentatively to organise the Police Retreat in November and the Women Police Conference in October.
To improve gender parity and working conditions for women police personnel, the DGP has advised effective implementation of 33 per cent reservation for women police personnel and directed officers to create greater opportunities for women officers in law & order duties and field-level policing responsibilities.
The DGP emphasised the importance of technology in modern policing is need for greater adoption of technology-based policing systems. Senior officers discussed the implementation of core applications, expansion of CCTNS 2.0, and wider utilisation of TG Cops platforms, etc. He observed that technology can significantly enhance policing efficiency by enabling faster access to information relating to Dial-100 responses, rowdy sheeters, anti-social elements, vehicle searches, and the history of offenders in databases.
He further instructed officials to focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based policing, drone technologies, HRMS, data intelligence systems, and smart applications. He urged officers to move forward with the vision of "Telangana Smart Policing – Using Technology".
Discussions were also held on manpower management, vehicle audits, personnel utilisation, and traffic management systems. The meeting further deliberated on the future requirement for establishing systems for traffic management and Road Safety Bureau functions, along with specialised mechanisms for food adulteration control, etc.
At another meeting, the DGP noted that the Telangana State Police Department had once been among the leading police organisations in the country in terms of technology adoption and utilisation. However, due to inadequate use of available technological systems and gaps in field-level implementation in recent years, the department has fallen behind in certain areas.
Addressing SHOs along with officers from various units through a video conference, the DGP emphasised the need to effectively utilise available technological resources and further strengthen data-driven policing systems.
Technology is not merely about developing software applications but depends largely on their effective usage, continuous updating, and real-time data management, he noted.
