Quiver Distribution Drops Wild Trailer for Indie Comedy Crime Thriller 'Above the Line'

Quiver Distribution has released the official trailer for Above the Line, a quirky indie comedy that blends crime, chaos, and Hollywood satire into one wildly unpredictable package. Directed by Jeffrey Scott Collins, the film promises a messy, laugh-out-loud ride through the darker, more desperate side of the entertainment industry.

The story follows six struggling Hollywood hopefuls who find themselves united by one outrageous mission: to steal the Academy Awards statuettes from a crooked producer who once destroyed their careers. What begins as a bizarre revenge fantasy quickly escalates into a chaotic heist filled with questionable decisions, broken dreams, and plenty of absurd comedy.

Set against the glittering yet deceptive backdrop of Hollywood, the film explores how far ambition can push people when success feels just out of reach. With a tone that mixes satire and crime thriller energy, Above the Line leans heavily into the idea that in a town built on illusion, reality is often the biggest joke of all.

The ensemble cast features Gregg Henry, Jackson Pace, Cedric the Entertainer, Sophia Ali, Dylan Playfair, Suzy Nakamura, Reno Wilson, Adhir Kalyan, and Jamie Lee. Each character brings their own flawed motivations to the table, turning the central heist into a messy group effort full of conflicting agendas and unexpected twists.

The film opens on Christmas Eve, when the group receives a mysterious knock at the door along with an envelope of cash containing an “opportunity of a lifetime.” The message is simple but outrageous: break into the home of a producer they all despise and retrieve what he values most. The identity of the mysterious orchestrator, however, remains unknown, adding another layer of intrigue to the already chaotic setup.

Written by Jeffrey Scott Collins and Jono Matt, Above the Line has already made limited festival appearances, but early buzz remains modest despite its bold concept. Still, its eccentric premise and ensemble-driven storytelling have caught the attention of indie film enthusiasts looking for something offbeat and unconventional.

With its mix of satire, crime, and holiday chaos, Above the Line is shaping up to be a darkly comedic take on Hollywood ambition. The film is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, and promises a Christmas Eve heist that could either make or break its desperate dreamers.
