New Delhi, June 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) A day after 21 people died in a massive fire at the multi-storied Flourish Stay B&B in Delhi's Malviya Nagar area, 15 others injured are undergoing treatment at a private hospital, with six of the patients put on ventilator support but are reported to be stable, a hospital statement said.
According to a statement issued by the Max Hospital, Saket, a total of 15 patients are currently admitted at the healthcare facility in south Delhi. Of these, 13 are foreigners.
Authorities said that currently, 6 patients are on ventilator support. However, all ventilated patients are showing signs of improvement and remain stable.
It further said that a total of 9 patients are admitted to the ICU and wards.
"The overall condition of all admitted patients is stable. Out of these, one patient is planned for discharge today. At present, there are no extremely critical patients," the hospital said.
However, Max Hospital specified that the nature and severity of injuries vary among patients, particularly in the case of a patient who underwent spine surgery a day before and continues to be closely monitored. "The hospital continues to provide comprehensive care and regular monitoring for all admitted patients," it said.
Earlier, authorities said that 47 people were rescued from the building, with 26 currently undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has received several injured persons, including police personnel who were among the first responders to enter the burning building.
Following the tragedy on Wednesday, the property's owner, Lokesh Bajaj, has been sent to four days of police custody, officials said on Thursday.
Bajaj was arrested after a massive manhunt by Delhi Police, which conducted raids across the national capital. He was produced before a Delhi court on Thursday.
While seeking his remand, the police told the court that the investigation is still at an initial stage.
"The forensic experts have not yet been able to begin a detailed examination, and the staff were working under his instructions. Therefore, custodial interrogation is necessary for the investigation," officials said.
