Agartala, May 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday asserted that the CPI (M) has become “politically bankrupt” and alleged that the Left party was trying to weaken the BJP through various means.
Addressing the reception ceremony to formally welcome the new state BJP President Abhishek Debroy, the Chief Minister claimed that the BJP would wrest 10 Assembly seats from the CPI (M) in the coming days. The Left party currently has 10 seats in the 60‑member Tripura Assembly.
Saha also stressed the need for strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the organisational and booth levels to ensure the party’s continued dominance in the state. He said discipline remains one of the most important aspects of organisational growth and political success.
“If we want to move in the right direction in life, there must be discipline. Karyakartas will have to work in line with the hopes and aspirations of the people. Party leaders and booth presidents must be strengthened further. The booths will also have to be strengthened,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the government's achievements and activities should reach people at the grassroots level. He urged the newly appointed President to work at this level, saying only then would there be a BJP government not only in 2028 but also in the future.
Claiming that there is “no alternative” to the BJP, Saha said people have already witnessed the governance of both the Congress and the CPI (M) in Tripura. “The face of the communists has become clear today. They have become politically bankrupt. Many people are spreading misleading narratives on social media and YouTube and are trying to corrupt the BJP in various ways. But we must remember that this is not the Congress or the Trinamool Congress; this is the Bharatiya Janata Party,” he said.
Saha further said that, since the CPI (M) has declined nationwide, similar efforts should be made in Tripura as well. “They cannot be kept in any condition. They are harmful to the country and the state. Misleading people and telling lies has become the religion of this party. That is why we have to snatch their 10 seats,” he said.
Referring to debates in the Assembly, the Chief Minister alleged that the CPI (M) often talks about a so‑called “golden age” during its rule in the state. “These drug mafias are their creation. Those drug mafias are now in handcuffs,” he claimed.
The Chief Minister also reiterated the need for making the BJP more organisationally strong in the coming days. “The government will do the work of governance. Appropriate measures are also being taken regarding the cutting of news published in newspapers,” he said.
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP‑led government in Tripura, Saha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was pleased with the reform initiatives undertaken in the state. “We are working in all sectors. Tripura is progressing in various ways in the northeastern region. The state now ranks second among Northeastern states in terms of GSDP and per capita income. NITI Aayog has declared Tripura a front‑runner state,” he said.
He further said that Tripura has emerged as the third-most literate state in the country, after Goa and Mizoram. “The number of MBBS seats has increased significantly in the state. Postgraduate medical seats have also gone up, and a Dental College has been established,” he added.
The function was attended by newly appointed Tripura BJP President Abhishek Debroy, former state BJP president and MP Rajib Bhattacharya, BJP Prabhari (observer) Rajdeep Roy, ministers, MLAs, public representatives, and several senior party leaders.
