Our earnest prayer and hope is that hatred may dissipate, and that people may come to understand the language of love—that we may conduct ourselves with affection and harmony, and focus our gaze upon progress. The reality is that, somewhere along the line, religion tends to create rifts; politics, in turn, begins to exploit religion for its own ends. I believe this phenomenon is occurring across the globe. We must transcend this dynamic and move forward. Therefore, I believe the very objective of this conclave is to rise above religious distinctions—as much as possible—and to bring to the fore the inherent goodness that resides within us. It is by embracing this goodness that we shall advance—together with the world and with the times."
