Apoorva Arora Calls 'Momacu' the "Simpsons of ATM Theft Stories": "The ATM Itself Is a Character in the Film"

The trailer launch of Momacu - Motor Machis Aur Cutter turned unexpectedly hilarious and intriguing after actress Apoorva Arora compared the film to The Simpsons while describing its bizarrely realistic storyline involving ATM robberies, chaos, mistrust, and one unforgettable winter night in rural Haryana.

Speaking enthusiastically about the film during the launch event, Apoorva revealed how the cast often joked that the movie seemed to predict real-life incidents. “It truly is unique. Because—I mean, all these elements, these characters, and these events unfolding—we see them happening somewhere or other in real life,” she said.

The actress then recalled how news reports about ATM thefts continued appearing even after the team wrapped filming, making the coincidence impossible to ignore. “In fact, I recall that even after we finished shooting, we frequently came across news reports in the papers about ATM thefts. So, we were actually joking amongst ourselves, wondering if we had somehow become that—much like The Simpsons, where whatever happened in the show would eventually come true in reality; they seemed to be predicting the future. We were like, ‘Are we the Simpsons now?’” she laughed.

Apoorva Arora further described the film as a fast-paced thriller packed with entertainment and tension from beginning to end. “So, it is that kind of story. It’s incredibly fun. It’s a thriller. There won't be a single moment where the audience feels bored or thinks, ‘Okay, we’ve lost interest now,’” she shared, promising audiences a gripping cinematic ride.

Perhaps the most unusual detail revealed during her speech was the importance of the ATM machine itself in the narrative. According to Apoorva, the stolen ATM is not just a prop or plot device — it behaves almost like a living character around which every emotional conflict revolves. “Furthermore—and this is key—the ATM itself acts as a character in this film. We, the human characters, revolve around it, each with our own individual storylines and personal struggles—problems that ultimately bring us all together over the course of a single night,” she explained.

The actress also emphasized the film’s unique storytelling structure, revealing that the entire narrative unfolds over the course of one freezing winter night. “It is a story that unfolds entirely within one night, and I believe the audience will truly grasp this once they watch the film,” she added.

Written and directed by Kuldeep Kunal, Momacu - Motor Machis Aur Cutter is a dark comedy musical thriller set against the rustic backdrop of rural Haryana. The film follows three desperate men who steal an ATM machine hoping to solve their financial crises overnight. However, things quickly spiral into paranoia, mistrust, exhaustion, and absurdly dark comic situations as the group struggles to crack open the machine before dawn.

The film stars Jatin Sarna, Yashpal Sharma, Apoorva Arora, Tushar Jagdish Dutt, and Gourav Sharma in pivotal roles. With its unusual premise, dark humor, and chaotic single-night narrative, the film is already generating curiosity among audiences looking for something unconventional.

Momacu - Motor Machis Aur Cutter is set to release on June 4, 2026, and will premiere exclusively on the KableOne OTT platform.
