Odisha govt to launch ‘Ama Gaanre Ama Tahasil’ for doorstep revenue services

Bhubaneswar, May 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) To strengthen grassroots governance and improve public access to services, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department will soon introduce a new initiative, the ‘Ama Gaanre Ama Tahasil’ (Tahasil At Doorstep) programme.

According to an official statement by the department, the initiative will be implemented in accordance with directions from Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari.

As part of the programme, the revenue department officials will reach people at their doorsteps to address their grievances and deliver various revenue services by organising Tahasil Camp Courts at village and Panchayat levels across the state in the coming days.

Earlier, people had to visit the Tahasil offices to avail various services of the revenue department.

“However, through these Camp Courts, Tahasil officials will now reach villages directly to provide immediate resolution of public grievances and deliver important revenue services such as correction of Record of Rights, demarcation, and other revenue-related services.

“The Minister also directed that grievances related to revenue services be heard through these Camp Courts and prompt service delivery be ensured,” the department added.

Pujari, who chaired a high-level meeting held in Bhubaneswar on Monday, directed the officials to ensure that revenue services effectively reach every citizen.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the achievements of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department over the past two years.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister stated: “What we consider as our achievement is not the real success; rather, the schemes and initiatives that are accepted and appreciated by the common people as successful are our true achievements.”

In this context, discussions were also held on several new initiatives and the department's future action plans.

The department further informed that senior officers at the state level will be assigned responsibilities as nodal officers for different districts.

They have been directed to undertake field visits to their respective districts in the coming days.

During these visits, the senior officers will stay overnight in the districts, interact with the public to gather feedback on government revenue services, and raise awareness among citizens about the department’s key public-oriented services.

The Revenue Minister further directed the simplification of the rules governing the conversion of agricultural land classification (Kisama) in urban areas.

It was discussed in the meeting that more than 2.5 crore revenue services have been delivered over the last two years under the Odisha Right to Public Services Act, and efforts will be made to make these services even more citizen-centric in the coming days.

The department stated in its official statement that it was also decided during the high-level meeting that a new Rehabilitation and Resettlement framework for displaced persons will soon be drafted and implemented.
