Chandigarh, May 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to save fuel amid the global energy crisis, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday cycled to reach the rainfed Sukhna Lake here and then went for his morning walk.
During the walk, CM Saini interacted with walkers and delivered the message of a ‘Healthy India, Healthy Haryana', a government spokesperson told IANS.
The spokesperson said CM Saini appealed to the public for cooperation with PM Modi’s appeal.
The Chief Minister also asked the Opposition to join hands to support the resolve for a “Developed India”.
In Haryana, he said, they have issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) to save fossil fuel, and that “is tailored to our administration's requirements”.
“We have decided to adopt alternatives such as virtual meetings and work from home,” added the Chief Minister.
Last week, the Chief Minister took an important initiative to save fuel, protect the environment and promote the balanced use of resources by reducing the number of vehicles in his convoy by half. Only essential vehicles have been retained in the fleet from a security point of view, said the spokesperson.
CM Saini has also resolved to work one day a week without using any vehicle. He asked the public representatives and officers to set an example themselves and give a positive message to society.
The Chief Minister said that all ministers and departmental officers have also been directed to ensure the use of limited vehicles during travel.
He appealed to officers and the general public to participate in this fuel-saving campaign by making maximum use of public transport.
The Chief Minister said that energy conservation is the responsibility of every citizen. He said that if everyone makes small efforts, a significant contribution can be made not only towards fuel saving but also towards environmental protection.
