Fire breaks out in empty train coach at Hyderabad's Nampally station

Hyderabad, May 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) A fire broke out in an empty train coach of Hyderabad-Jaipur Special Train stationed at Nampally Railway Station here on Friday. However, there were no casualties.

The fire broke out in an airconditioned coach and spread to the adjoining coach.

 

The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m., ahead of the train's scheduled departure at 7:50 a.m.

Railway staff noticed smoke emanating from the coach and alerted fire services department.

Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) personnel along with firefighting personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Three fire engines were pressed into service to control the blaze.

The incident triggered panic among passengers at the railway station.

Railway staff evacuated passengers from other compartments.

According to South Central Railway (SCR) spokesman, a fire was noticed in an empty coach of Hyderabad-Jaipur Special Train which was stationed at the platform.

The spokesman said no passengers were inside the coach. No injuries reported and the fire was brought under control immediately.

The affected coaches (B1 and B2) were detached.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Railway officials have ordered an inquiry.

Authorities were assessing the extent of the damage. There was no report of any major disruption to train operations at the station.

Meanwhile, a huge fire broke out in a storehouse of decoration material at near Kongarkalan village in Adibatla in Rangareddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad. No casualties were reported.

According to the police, fire broke out in the warehouse storing decorative items behind PSR Sloka Convention Hall. The fire spread rapidly as decorative items made of plastic and wood were stored. Thick black smoke covered the area.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot and controlled the fire. The cause of the fire was not known.

Police said they have registered a case and the case was under investigation.
