J&K: Northern Command chief visits forward areas along LoC in Valley

Srinagar, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander of the Northern Command, on Wednesday visited forward areas along the Line of Control in the Valley to assess the existing security dynamics.

Udhampur-headquartered Northern Command said on X on Wednesday, “Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, #ArmyCdrNC, visited forward areas along the #LineOfControl in North Kashmir to assess the existing security dynamics, summer strategy, and review operational preparedness across the region.

“During interaction with the troops deployed along the #LoC, the Army Commander appreciated their unwavering spirit, operational acumen and tireless commitment in service to the nation.

“He encouraged all ranks to pursue excellence in operational capability, remain vigilant, responsive and combat-ready at all times.”

J&K has a 740-km-long Line of Control situated in the Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts of the Valley, and in Rajouri, Poonch, and partly in the Jammu district of the Jammu division.

In addition, there is a 240-km-long international border situated in Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts.

The Army is deployed on the Line of Control, while the Border Security Force is deployed on the international border.

The Army and the Border Security Force prevent infiltration, exfiltration, drug smuggling, and drone activity initiated by terror outfits from across the border with Pakistan’s help.

These drones drop payloads of arms, ammunition, cash, and drugs on the Indian side of the border.

These payloads are picked up by overground workers of terror outfits, who pass them on to terrorists to sustain terrorism in J&K.

Only on Tuesday did alert troops of the Army foil an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district.

Army soldiers challenged a group of terrorists along the Line of Control, after which a gun battle started.

One Pakistani terrorist was killed by the Army in the gun battle, while the infiltration attempt was foiled.

A search operation was later started in the area to ensure that no terrorists had managed to sneak into the Indian side of the Line of Control.
