Set in the high-energy world of rap battles, crime, and emotional chaos, Lukkhe—streaming soon on Prime Video—blends music and storytelling in a way that thrives on grey moral spaces. Raashii explained that what drew her in was exactly that complexity.
She said: “Apart from the romance and the rap battles that you see, I believe our characters are thrown into a world where defining what is right and what is wrong is incredibly difficult. It’s a grey zone—much like our own lives. And that is precisely what makes these characters so incredibly relatable.”
Her words reflect the emotional core of the series, which is built around conflicting loyalties, ambition, and survival in a world where every choice has consequences.
Raashii also credited the creative force behind the show and praised the collaborative effort that shaped her character: “In fact, the very first thing I fell in love within the script was how beautifully these characters were written. A big thank you to Devo. Thank you to Agrim—for being the wonderful showrunners that they are. Thank you to Himank, our director, who worked tirelessly to bring out the very best in all of us; to Amazon and our producers for backing content like this; and to all my fellow Lukkhés, who did such a fantastic job. I truly believe this was a team effort; without them, perhaps Gurbani wouldn't have been the Gurbani you see today.”
Directed by Himank Gaur, Lukkhe features an ensemble cast including rapper King in his acting debut as MC Badnaam, along with Shivankit Parihar, Palak Tiwari, and Lakshvir Singh Saran. The series is set in Chandigarh and explores the collision of rap culture, rivalry, and redemption.
But for Raashii, the role carries a deeper emotional meaning—one she described as intensely personal: “As for Gurbani herself, playing her felt like a homecoming for me. I’ve worked in many different languages, but Punjabi is who I am—and Punjabi is who I play. So, I think this experience has been incredibly special for me; I truly became her, and I absolutely adore my character. You’ll see that she’s a true Jatti—a Punjabi woman—and you’ll witness her in all her power. Yet, there is so much that she keeps hidden beneath the surface. You’ll also get to see what unprocessed grief can do to a person. She doesn’t need to raise her voice; instead, she raises the intensity in every single scene she appears in. And that—that is exactly why I love her. I loved playing her. And I hope that you all come to love her just as much as I do. A gentle girl who turns up the heat quite a bit throughout the show! Alright, alright, alright. I really hope you guys love it. We’ve all worked incredibly hard on this, and I am truly proud of this show”
Her portrayal of Gurbani promises a layered character—strong, restrained, emotionally complex, and quietly intense. A woman shaped by grief but never defined by it, embodying power without noise.
With its mix of rap battles, emotional storytelling, and gritty drama, Lukkhe is shaping up to be more than just a musical thriller—it’s a character-driven exploration of identity and survival. And if Raashii Khanna’s words are anything to go by, Gurbani might just become one of the most memorable roles of her career.
