Chandigarh, April 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former Punjab Cabinet Minister Manoranjan Kalia on Tuesday reacted sharply to the rejection of an application by the Delhi High Court in a case related to AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, stating that the decision is a direct blow to Kejriwal’s politics of evading justice.
Kalia, who also served as the former state president of the BJP Punjab unit, said as a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Kejriwal should fully understand the seriousness of legal procedures and the judicial system. However, his demand for the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma is merely an attempt to divert attention from the case and delay the judicial process.
Kalia alleged that Kejriwal and his party have consistently engaged in the politics of creating pressure through baseless allegations in the media, but the court has firmly rejected such attempts.
He said it is now clear that Kejriwal is trying to avoid due process instead of facing the truth. He added that if Kejriwal has faith in his case, he should fight it in court based on facts rather than relying on unfounded allegations and theatrics.
Kalia further stated that the “rule of law” is supreme in India, and no individual, regardless of their position, is above the law.
In conclusion, he said that the Delhi High Court’s decision is not only correct but also sends a strong message to those attempting to influence courts that the judicial system is fully independent and robust.
The Delhi High Court's Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma on Monday rejected a plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal seeking her recusal from hearing matters related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy case.
The Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court had also turned down a representation made by Kejriwal seeking transfer of the CBI’s revision petition in the excise policy case from the bench of Justice Sharma.
