“Not in the slightest,” he said, addressing the comparison directly. “Because there are two things to consider. Firstly, his career has been so long and so successful that reaching that same pinnacle—or rather, truly having our names mentioned in the same breath—will take a very long time. So, how could I possibly draw such comparisons at this stage? In that sense, the comparisons don't bother me.”
He also reflected on how different the industry was during his father’s peak years compared to today. “Also, the industry was vastly different back then compared to what it is today. You know? So, the way one had to chart one's career journey was completely different. And—full credit to him—he was raising a young family right around the time he really hit his stride professionally. My responsibilities in that department are currently a bit lighter. Yes, exactly. So, that affords me a little bit more freedom in terms of the choices I make.”
When asked about lessons he has learned from his father, both personally and professionally, Aditya was quick to emphasize just how deep that influence runs. “Oh, there are a thousand! I mean, whatever you might have learned from your own father or mother—you can essentially multiply that by at least two times in my case. This is because we happen to be in the exact same profession; so, the things you might learn from your parents on a personal and private level, I have also learned from my parents on a professional level. It truly encompasses a whole spectrum of lessons.”
But if he had to pick just one guiding principle, Aditya didn’t hesitate. “Tenacity, keep your head down and keep working,” he added simply, summing up a philosophy that clearly guides his approach to cinema and career choices.
On the work front, Aditya Rawal will next be seen in the romantic thriller Sundar Poonam opposite Sanya Malhotra. Directed by Pulkit, the film is reportedly inspired by true events and marks a shift for Aditya into a more emotional yet suspense-driven space.
He is also part of the upcoming Amazon Prime Original series Tax Department, where he plays a newly appointed Revenue Services officer taking on a powerful criminal, played by Ravi Kishan. With such diverse projects lined up, Aditya seems focused on letting his work speak louder than comparisons.
