Ahmedabad/Patna, April 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) A man accused of issuing a death threat to newly appointed Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has been arrested from Ahmedabad by a Sanand police team acting in coordination with Bihar Police, officials said on Friday.
The accused, identified as Shekhar Yadav, 32, was apprehended from the Sanand–Kadi Road after investigators traced his location using mobile surveillance and intelligence inputs.
Police said the case was initially registered on April 15 at Sangrampur Police Station in Bihar’s Munger district, where a call threatening to kill the newly appointed Chief Minister had been received at his office.
The FIR was lodged under sections 351(2), 351(3), 351(4), 352, 353 and 224 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, relating to criminal intimidation and associated offences.
Following this, Munger district police contacted Ahmedabad Rural SP Om Prakash Jat to share details, having established that the suspect was in Gujarat.
DySP Aastha Rana of Ahmedabad Rural said, “In Munger district of Bihar, a case was registered at Sangrampur police station on April 15 after a person made a threat call at the office of newly appointed Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.”
She added that coordination between the two state police forces led to the breakthrough. “Munger district SP and Ahmedabad Rural SP Om Prakash Jat got in touch regarding the case to share the specifics. It was said that the person is in Sanand,” she said.
A team led by Sanand Police Inspector B.T. Gohil maintained continuous contact with Bihar Police while deploying technical surveillance and human intelligence to track the suspect.
Officials said the accused had been residing in the Sanand area and working for a private company involved in transport operations.
“Through technical surveillance and human intelligence, the man was nabbed by the teams. His name is Shekhar Yadav, and he is 32 years old. He is working with a company here and came three to four months ago,” Rana said.
According to police, Yadav was detained and questioned, during which he admitted to making the threat call.
“As per preliminary information, the call was made due to an old issue in which a fight took place in Bihar," Rana said.
His permanent address is in the Banka district of Bihar. After being taken into custody, Yadav was handed over to the Bihar Police for further investigation.
“For further inquiry, the accused will be handed over to the Bihar Police,” Rana said.
The arrest comes shortly after Choudhary assumed office as Chief Minister of Bihar, succeeding Nitish Kumar, who stepped down earlier this week, ending a nearly two-decade tenure.
