Mohanlal Marks Vishu With Meaningful Gift Bringing Clean Water To Kuttanad

Through his charitable organization, ViswaSanthi Foundation, Mohanlal announced the successful launch of three solar-powered RO water plants under the Santhi Theertham Project. Partnering with State Bank of India, the initiative is now operational in Kandankari, Murikkolmutt, and Nedumudi, collectively serving nearly 4,000 people with free, safe drinking water every day.

 

Kuttanad, known for its picturesque backwaters, has long struggled with access to clean drinking water due to its low-lying geography and recurring flooding. Agricultural runoff and water contamination have made potable water a daily challenge for many residents. This initiative directly addresses that issue, offering a sustainable and reliable solution powered by solar energy.

 

Mohanlal’s message struck an emotional chord as he highlighted the human side of the project, stating that if even one mother worries less about her family’s well-being, the effort is worthwhile. The announcement was accompanied by a personal video message and visuals from the inauguration held on April 14, showing community members coming together to celebrate the milestone.

 

The newly installed plants feature automated dispensing systems, ensuring easy and consistent access for villagers. Beyond infrastructure, the project represents hope, dignity, and a better quality of life for those who have quietly endured water scarcity for years.
