Recounting the incident, Akshay Kumar said, “I was in Rajasthan, I was shooting for something, so this woman approached me for a selfie, I was so floored and moved by the selfie she took, she didn't take off her ghughat, (face cover), she kept her culture intact, she didn't show her face, I could never forget this photograph and this moment, this woman maintained her culture, she took the selfie, and this is the beauty of Rajasthan.” The heartfelt anecdote captured the grace with which the woman balanced admiration for a star while staying rooted in her traditions.
The story gains even more significance as a major portion of Bhooth Bangla has been shot across Rajasthan, particularly in Jaipur. The film also features visually rich locations such as Galtaji Temple, Sisodiya Rani Bagh, and Chomu Palace, adding authenticity and grandeur to its setting. Kumar’s experience reflects the cultural depth of the region, which plays an important role in shaping the film’s visual identity.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla is a fantasy horror-comedy produced by Akshay Kumar along with Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. The film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi. It is all set for a theatrical release on April 17, 2026.
Interestingly, the film also marks Priyadarshan’s return to the Hindi horror-comedy space after Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), reuniting him with Akshay Kumar and several familiar faces like Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav. With nostalgia, humor, and a touch of the supernatural, Bhooth Bangla promises to be an entertaining ride.
But beyond the film, it’s moments like the one Kumar shared that remind audiences why cinema and culture go hand in hand. In a simple selfie, a fan managed to leave a lasting impression — one that celebrated identity, respect, and the timeless beauty of Rajasthan.
