Ahmedabad, April 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) will face Riyan Parag's Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 9 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
GT will be aiming to secure their first win of the season after suffering a narrow defeat to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their opening game. Batting first, GT posted a competitive total of 162/6 but failed to defend it as their bowling attack struggled to close out the contest, with Punjab chasing down the target with five balls remaining.
In contrast, RR head into the fixture on the back of an emphatic win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati. RR produced a dominant all-round display, dismissing CSK for 127 before completing the chase comfortably in just over 12 overs. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger starred with the ball, while youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi impressed with a blistering half-century.
Historically, the Gujarat Titans have held the upper hand in this contest, winning six of the eight meetings between the two sides, while the Rajasthan Royals have emerged victorious on two occasions. The Titans also won their first-ever encounter in April 2022, though the Royals claimed the most recent clash played in April 2025.
