Known for winning Bigg Boss OTT Season 1 and MTV Ace of Space 1, Divya reflected candidly on the dynamics inside the house, the large number of contestants, and the pressures that came with navigating alliances and conflicts.
While interacting with the media after her exit, Divya explained how the structure of the show made gameplay complicated from the very beginning. She said, “My intention in the beginning was that if you want to become captain in that house, if you want to play the game, there's a fight. Even if you want to become captain, there's a fight. The responsibility is such that if you become captain, and if you lose, you'll have to remove two or three people from your own team. There are too many people. 50 people is too many people, brother. There are 50 people in one person's classroom. Right? And not everyone can come first there. So I understood that, and if a girl becomes a target on her own, then the situation she faces in reality shows, especially in these types of reality shows, if she says too much or does too much, the same thing happened with Nikki. She tries to speak, she tries to play every individual game, she left before me.”
She further pointed out that the environment inside the house was often dominated by aggressive dynamics and lacked a central authority figure to manage situations. Divya added, “So, I think anyone's approach was not right. From the very beginning, the game was based on male dominance. It even came to blows, and we didn't have a host like Salman Khan who could handle or straighten things out. So, I did want to target myself at the beginning of the show. I would scream like a Khanzadi or something. I would have been out of the show anyway. And for this show, I danced and sang at Prince's wedding, meaning for a show, I don't expect that. And in all the reality shows I've done before, I've had contestants I didn't know at all. Here, I already had such relationships that I didn't expect. But I wanted to do it just because I said I'm not the kind of person who would be stubborn. On a humanitarian basis, things have changed a lot on the show.”
Despite the challenges, Divya maintained that she enjoyed parts of the journey and stayed true to her independent style of gameplay. She explained, “But I did enjoy the show as much as I could have. Because as long as I play alone, I tell my own story, I fight my own battle. I don't need anyone's support or votes. I don't need any alliance. I think I can play those games very well. But playing together means going all the way and backing up for votes. I mean, you must not have seen me worrying. If you're saying I was playing in Prince's shadow, I never worried about that. I didn't meet Prince, understand. I mean, it's not a wrong word. It's okay, but I never went and requested Prince, "Hey, please, save me. I'm leaving, please look after me. I don't want to go. Will you save me?" I never had those kinds of doubts. I knew this is anybody's game.”
Divya’s comments have sparked discussions among fans of reality television, particularly comparisons between The 50 and established formats such as Bigg Boss, where Salman Khan is known for stepping in to mediate conflicts and guide contestants. Her candid remarks also highlight the complexities of managing a competition featuring such a large number of participants and the shifting alliances that come with it.
