My Crops Of Stories Germinates From Society And Politics Says Prakash Jha

During the trailer launch of the upcoming Indian socio-political drama series Sankalp, renowned filmmaker Prakash Jha took a moment to clarify his creative approach and give credit where it’s due.

Speaking to the media, Jha emphasized the importance of the original writer, stating, "Thank you for asking me that, I was about to say it, the inspiration and the credit of this project goes to its original writer Reshu Nath, she is the one who really works hard and the team which helped her from Jio”

Further clarifying that he only makes political films, Jha said “I don’t know how this misconception is running among people that I make political films, or I make socio-political films, I just narrate stories, and the crop of my stories, germinates from society and politics, but eventually unless we try to know people and tell their stories until we are able to connect with people and characters, and move with them, be with them, laugh with them, they don’t work."

Jha’s statement underlines his commitment to authentic storytelling, highlighting that while his narratives often draw from political and societal contexts, his primary focus remains on understanding people and portraying stories that resonate emotionally with audiences. By acknowledging Reshu Nath’s foundational role in Sankalp, Jha stressed the collaborative effort behind the series and dispelled misconceptions about his work being solely “political films.”

Directed by Prakash Jha, Sankalp reimagines political strategy in a modern Indian context, drawing inspiration from the Chanakya–Chandragupta chronicles. Instead of battlefields, classrooms and institutions become the arena of influence, exploring how mentorship, ideology, and ambition shape leadership.

The series stars Nana Patekar, Sanjay Kapoor, Neeraj Kabi, Kubbra Sait, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kranti Prakash Jha. Produced under the banner of PJP Productions and presented by Jio Studios, Sankalp streams for free on MX Player from March 11, 2026.
