Megastar Amitabh Bachchan fondly remembered his late mother, Teji Bachchan, on her 18th death anniversary with an emotional note that touched the hearts of his admirers. Taking to his personal blog, the legendary actor dedicated the day to his mother’s memory, sharing a photograph of her along with deeply moving words.

In his post dated December 21, Amitabh Bachchan expressed that some emotions go beyond words. Writing in Hindi, he shared, “Maa ki yaad main din samarpit aaj ka din. Dec 21. Kuch kehne ke liye shabd nahi hote bas… Prarthanayein,” which translates to dedicating the day to his mother’s memory, acknowledging that there are moments when only prayers can speak.

Teji Bachchan was married to renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan in Allahabad in 1941. After marriage, she chose the role of a homemaker but remained deeply connected to art and culture. Known for her love for theatre, Teji Bachchan would often sing at social gatherings when encouraged, reflecting her creative spirit and graceful personality. She and Harivansh Rai Bachchan had two sons, Amitabh Bachchan and Ajitabh Bachchan.

Teji Bachchan spent most of 2007 admitted at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital due to prolonged health issues. Her condition worsened in November that year, following which she was moved to the ICU. She passed away on December 21, 2007, at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and quiet influence on one of India’s most respected film families.
