Anil Sharma, Anu Malik, Vatsal Sheth, Chunky Pande…

A somber atmosphere filled the lanes outside Dharmendra Deol’s Mumbai residence yesterday as several well-known personalities — Anil Sharma, Anu Malik, Vatsal Sheth, Chunky Pandey, Nirvaan Khan, Ravi Kishan and many others — arrived to pay their final respects. The outpouring of love and support reflected the deep bond the industry shared with the legendary actor, as colleagues and friends visited the Deol household to offer condolences to the grieving family.

Dharmendra, who passed away at the age of 89 at his Mumbai home on Monday, left fans and the film fraternity mourning the loss of one of Indian cinema’s most beloved icons. His final rites were performed the day before yesterday at the Pawan Hans Crematorium, where emotional scenes unfolded as people gathered to say their final goodbye to the man who had defined charisma and heroism for generations.

Celebrated as Bollywood’s original “He-Man,” Dharmendra delivered numerous unforgettable performances that shaped the golden era of Hindi cinema. From the timeless camaraderie of Sholay to the comedic brilliance of Chupke Chupke, the royal valor of Dharamveer, and the charm he brought to films like Loafer, Jugnu, and Seeta Aur Geeta, his filmography stands as a treasure chest of classics that continue to delight audiences.

Beyond his cinematic achievements, Dharmendra was admired for his warmth, simplicity, and enduring screen presence. His fan base spanned decades, connecting seamlessly with older admirers and younger generations alike. The beloved actor is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur; his second wife, actress Hema Malini; and six children — Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, Ajeita, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol — all of whom carry forward his remarkable legacy.

Dharmendra’s passing marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. His contributions, both on and off screen, have left an indelible mark on the hearts of millions. Though he may no longer be physically present, his legacy will forever shine through his films, his family, and the countless lives he touched.
