Karmanye Vadhikaraste Review: An Intricate, Twisty Thriller Sets the Stage for another Edition (Rating:3.25)

Karmanye Vadhikaraste stars Brahmaji, Shatru, and 'Master' Mahendran in the lead roles. Presented by Javvaji Surendra Kumar under the Ushaswini Films banner, it also features Banerjee, Prudhvi, Sivaji Raja, Ajay Ratnam, and Sri Sudha in important supporting roles. The film is directed by Amar Deep Challapalli and produced by DSS Durga Prasad. The film was released in theaters today.

Story:

Three different stories take place simultaneously. Prudhvi (Prudhvi) causes an accident resulting in a death. The case is taken on by a cop named Arjun (Shatru). However, the post-mortem report reveals that the person died before the accident, not because of it. His body remains unclaimed. Discovering that there are many such cases in Vizag, Arjun begins his investigation.

Kireeti (Brahmaji) is a sincere cop who is posted at a check post. One day, a rape victim girl is found unconscious at that location. Kireeti admits her to the hospital for treatment and keeps her at his home, ensuring no one knows until she regains consciousness. In her bag, he finds photos related to guns and some codes. This prompts Kireeti to begin an investigation into her identity. Meanwhile, Jai (Master Mahendran), an Ad filmmaker, traps girls, drugs them, and kidnaps them.

Who exactly is Jai? What is he doing with those girls? Who is the girl who was raped? Will Kireeti and Arjun solve their respective cases? Answers to these questions are found as the story progresses.

Analysis:

The film is structured around three parallel storylines that, initially, appear completely separate. The entire first half establishes these narratives as distinct, straightforward investigations, broken up only by the developing love story between Arjun and Subhadra. This deliberate separation creates an effective surprise when, at the interval, the suspenseful orders received by both Kireeti and Arjun suddenly hint at a deep, previously unseen connection between the cases, instantly building anticipation for the second half.

The second half becomes instantly engaging as a relentless series of twists and revelations unfolds. The intricate connection between all the separate cases and the way the investigation elements are tied together is commendably well-written. However, the overall presentation could have been clearer at times.

The film delivers a notable surprise in its conclusion: instead of the expected unity between Jai, Arjun, and Kireeti, the story intentionally leaves them separate, concluding on a major lead for Part 2.

The film tackles several serious and timely issues, notably honey trapping, illegal immigration, and the resulting threat to national security. Technically, the movie is lean and effective, clocking in at a major plus point: just two hours. For balance, the production also incorporates a decent amount of glamour.

Performances:

Brahmaji performed well in the role of the sincere police officer. As a senior artist, he was effortless. Shatru, one of the underrated actors of the generation, also looked powerful in the role of a cop. Master Mahendran, who has impressed for years as a child artist, entertains with his performance in two shades in this film.

Sri Sudha and Brahmaji provide laughs in places. Ayesha, Ira Dayanand, Prasad Behara, Banerjee, Prudhvi, Sivaji Raja, Ajay Ratnam, and the rest of the cast were adequate in their respective roles.

Technical Aspects

The film offers a compelling experience, notable for its good cinematography visuals and sharp editing, which contributes to a welcome low run time. The director effectively presents a serious point through a suspense investigative plot. Furthermore, the movie boasts decent production values and features a good single song. Howe…
