The divine roar continues. Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 has officially shaken the global box office, collecting an astounding 717.50 crore gross within just two weeks. Hombale Films marked the milestone with a celebratory post calling it “a divine storm at the box office,” inviting fans to celebrate Deepavali with the blockbuster still running strong in theatres worldwide.

Written, directed, and led by Rishab Shetty, this prequel to the 2022 cultural phenomenon Kantara expands the mythos that first mesmerized audiences. Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the story unravels the deep origins of the Buta Kola ritual — a divine dance tradition that forms the spiritual heart of the Kantara universe. The film dives into themes of ancestry, devotion, and man’s bond with nature, all coursing through Rishab Shetty’s unique cinematic vision.

Backed by producers Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films, Kantara: Chapter 1 also stars Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah.
