Sky Yang stars as Chau, a young American missionary who embarks on a fateful and unauthorized journey to North Sentinel Island, home to one of the world’s most isolated—and protected—indigenous tribes. His goal: to bring the Gospel to a people who have fiercely resisted outside contact for generations. But as the trailer reveals, what unfolds is far from a tale of spiritual victory.
The film also stars Radhika Apte as a determined cop, Ken Leung and Naveen Andrews in critical supporting roles, and Toby Wallace and Ciara Bravo in as-yet-undisclosed parts.
Written by Ben Ripley (Source Code), the screenplay is inspired by the 2019 Outside magazine article “The Last Days of John Allen Chau” by Alex Perry, which examined Chau’s controversial mission and the global outcry it sparked. The film leans into that gray zone between devotion and recklessness, asking the audience to sit uncomfortably with the consequences of spiritual absolutism and cultural intrusion.
Visually moody and morally complex, Last Days looks like a slow-burn thriller wrapped in real-world stakes. Lin’s direction, known for energy and precision, seems to take on a more introspective tone here—though the urgency is unmistakable.
Slated for release on October 24th, 2025, Last Days could ignite critical conversations and controversy alike—just as the story did in real life.
