Farhan Akhtar Meets Real Heroes of Rezang La Ahead of ‘120 Bahadur’ Release

Actor-director Farhan Akhtar is stepping into the boots of a real-life legend in his upcoming film 120 Bahadur, and before embodying Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, he took a moment to honour the true warriors behind the tale. In a moving gesture, Farhan visited the two surviving heroes of the Battle of Rezang La — Subedar Honorary Captain Ram Chander Yadav and Havildar Nihal Singh, both of whom played key roles in one of India's most heroic last stands.

 

Taking to Instagram, Farhan shared pictures from the heartfelt meeting, writing: "Was an honour spending an afternoon in the inspiring company of the two surviving heroes..." He also introduced the veterans to the actors playing them in the film — Sparsh Walia and Atul Singh — calling the moment “special” and “humbling.” The post radiated deep respect as Farhan thanked the war heroes for giving their blessing to portray their stories on screen.

 

Directed by Razneesh “Razy” Ghai, 120 Bahadur is a tribute to the Charlie Company of the 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought against overwhelming odds — 120 soldiers against approximately 3,000 Chinese troops — during the 1962 India-China war. The film’s teaser has already generated buzz, showcasing glimpses of Farhan as Major Shaitan Singh, a Param Vir Chakra awardee whose courage in the Rezang La battle has become the stuff of legend.
