Dhanush Drops First Single “Enna Sugam” from Idli Kadai Ahead of His Birthday, Clocks 2.2 Million Views

On a quiet Sunday afternoon, just a day before his birthday, Dhanush gave fans an early gift by unveiling the first single titled "Enna Sugam" from his much-anticipated directorial film Idli Kadai. Within mere hours, the track notched up an impressive 2.2 million views, signaling another potential viral success from the multi-talented star.

In his signature understated style, Dhanush simply captioned the post: “Idli Kadai first single”. But the impact of the release was anything but minimal. Sung by Dhanush himself along with Shweta Mohan, and composed by long-time collaborator G.V. Prakash Kumar, the song carries emotional depth with a melodic structure that blends nostalgia with modern cinematic rhythm. Notably, Dhanush also penned the lyrics, further cementing his all-round artistic involvement in the project.

Idli Kadai, which Dhanush has written, directed, and stars in, features Nithya Menen in a lead role, with a supporting cast including Arun Vijay and Sathyaraj. The film marks Dhanush’s fourth directorial outing under his home banner Wunderbar Films. The song title "Enna Sugam" (meaning “What Happiness”) shares its name with a beloved 2003 track by P. Susheela and K.J. Yesudas, a likely intentional nod to Tamil cinema’s melodic past. This interweaving of old and new has become a hallmark of Dhanush’s musical style, ever since the global success of "Why This Kolaveri Di" (2011). With Enna Sugam, he seems to be tapping into the same emotional and cultural chords.
