Brad Pitt Starrer F1: The Movie Races Past 100 Crore at Indian Box Office

Warner Bros. India has taken pole position with its latest release, F1: The Movie, which has zoomed past the ₹100 crore mark at the Indian box office within just a few days of release. The studio took to social media to celebrate the feat, tweeting, “No pit stops. No slowing down. Just full throttle at the Indian Box Office!” Starring Brad Pitt in the lead role of retired F1 driver Sonny Hayes, the film is already being hailed as one of the most commercially successful Hollywood imports of the year in India.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and written by Ehren Kruger, F1: The Movie blends high-speed racing thrills with underdog grit. The story follows Hayes, who comes out of retirement to help revive APXGP, a struggling Formula One team once connected to his former racing partner. The film also stars Damson Idris as his ambitious young teammate, along with Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem in key roles.

Despite its box office success, F1 has faced mixed critical reception. While praised for its adrenaline-pumping visuals and real-world F1 integration, critics have pointed out flaws, including unrealistic portrayals of racing dynamics and a lack of strong female characters in a sport where gender inclusivity remains a key topic. Still, the film’s blockbuster earnings in India highlight a growing appetite for action-heavy Hollywood fare, especially when fronted by global stars like Brad Pitt.

As the film continues its run in both standard and IMAX formats across India, its success serves as a reminder of cinema’s power to transcend borders. Whether or not it finds favor with purists of the sport, F1: The Movie has already crossed the finish line as a crowd-pleaser — and a major box office contender in one of the world’s fastest-growing film markets.
