Praising filmmaker Neeraj Pandey for writing strong female characters, Saiyami credited him for breaking stereotypes in Indian action storytelling. “As an actor, you want to play all shades—grey, black, white, even orange,” she said, highlighting how few roles truly offer that variety for women. “Neeraj Pandey deserves the credit because there are certain characters people just don’t write for women. And you often wonder—why not?”
She went on to reflect on how Neeraj Pandey has consistently crafted impactful roles for women in action, referencing Taapsee Pannu’s standout part in Baby. “When I saw that, I said wow—I’ve never seen anything like this in Indian cinema before,” she said. Saiyami considers herself lucky to be part of Special Ops from the first season, where she got to portray Juhi, a character that let her physically confront male adversaries. “I love doing action. I love beating up guys,” she said with a laugh, recalling a scene where she takes down a character with a stick.
But behind the humor and energy is a serious point. Saiyami emphasized how many women, especially in real life, feel the urge to fight back against daily harassment and disrespect. “There are so many people out there booing and wooing, and deep inside, women feel—give me a stick or a gun and I’ll show you how it’s done,” she said. Her role in Special Ops gave her that power on screen, and she hopes to keep playing such fearless characters. “I’m just really happy Neeraj gave me that opportunity, and I hope I continue to beat up the bad guys,” she concluded with a grin.
