12 Years of Raanjhanaa: Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor’s Classic Celebrated with a Grand Screening

It’s been 12 years since Raanjhanaa first hit the big screen, and the film continues to hold a special place in the hearts of fans. To mark this milestone, the makers hosted a special screening in Mumbai, turning the evening into a nostalgic celebration. Pictures and videos from the event quickly went viral, capturing candid moments from a film that redefined romance in Bollywood. Leading man Dhanush, who made a memorable Hindi debut with the film, was present at the event along with director Aanand L. Rai, actor Zeeshan Ayyub, and celebrated lyricist Irshad Kamil.

Dhanush arrived in style, dressed in an all-black formal suit that perfectly balanced elegance and charm. He greeted fans and the media with his signature warmth, reminding everyone why his portrayal of Kundan remains unforgettable even a decade later. Kriti Sanon also turned heads at the screening, looking radiant in a maroon and orange dress paired with golden statement jewellery. Though not part of the original film, her presence drew attention, especially with her upcoming project alongside Dhanush, Tere Ishq Mein, once again helmed by Aanand L. Rai.

The event wasn’t just a reunion—it was a heartfelt tribute to a film that blended youthful passion, heartbreak, and socio-political undertones into a compelling narrative. Fans flooded social media with clips and throwback posts, celebrating not only the characters of Kundan and Zoya but also the timeless music by A.R. Rahman, which remains a standout even today. For many, Raanjhanaa marked the beginning of a new kind of love story in Bollywood—unflinching, raw, and emotionally charged.

On the professional front, Dhanush is riding a wave of excitement with his upcoming release Kuberaa, where he stars alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Nagarjuna Akkineni. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film is set for a theatrical release on June 20, just days after the Raanjhanaa anniversary celebration. With Tere Ishq Mein also in the pipeline, Dhanush seems to be circling back to the kind of rooted, romantic storytelling that made audiences fall in love with him a dozen years ago.
