Neel Samarthh Says Real Actors Are Being Replaced by Influencers and It’s Time for a Reality Check

Television actor Neel Samarthh, known for his roles in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Waaris, is making a comeback with his new show Sabse Bada Rupaiya. But while promoting the show, the actor didn’t shy away from addressing one of the most heated debates in the entertainment world today — the rise of social media influencers over trained artistes.

 

In a refreshingly honest take, Neel said, “Honestly, I don’t have any grudges against influencers. In fact, I appreciate them. When I look at reels, I laugh for hours. The younger generation and influencers have such unique ideas.” So no, this wasn’t a bitter rant — but what followed was a blunt observation that many in the industry silently echo.

 

“They are not good actors,” Neel stated matter-of-factly. “There is a huge difference between an actor and an influencer.” According to him, the growing trend of casting influencers in acting roles — purely based on their online following — is sidelining experienced actors who’ve spent years honing their craft. “Now you have started to make influencers into actors, and actual actors are being made to sit at home — unless they make reels to become famous,” he said, highlighting how fame is being prioritized over skill.

 

Calling the current wave “a cycle,” Neel believes this influencer-driven phase too shall pass. “Everything that has a start, has an end. It will keep moving.”
