“Only a Fool Would Criticize These Films”: Akshay Kumar on His Socially Driven Cinema

At a recent press conference for Kesari 2, actor Akshay Kumar addressed questions regarding his consistent choice of films with political and social messages. He refuted claims of criticism towards his socially conscious projects, stating, "I don't think anyone has criticized those films. Anyone who criticizes them must be foolish. I made Padman, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Airlift, Kesari, and now Kesari 2... there are many such films. Anyone who criticizes them must be foolish. I made them from my heart; these are films that teach people many things."

Addressing remarks by veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, who previously mocked the title of his film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Kumar responded diplomatically, saying, "If she feels that way, it's okay. She can think as she likes."

As Kesari 2 nears its release, Kumar's dedication to blending entertainment with meaningful narratives continues to spark discussions, reflecting his belief in the transformative power of storytelling.

Kesari 2, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is slated for release on April 18, 2025, coinciding with Good Friday. The film stars Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, bringing to the forefront the untold story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the relentless pursuit of justice by C. Sankaran Nair.
