Vikram Bhatt: “Upcoming Directors Must Understand AI as It Will Soon Take Over”

Vikram Bhatt, the renowned filmmaker, was seen at the 12th edition of the world’s largest traveling film festival, the Jaran Film Festival, held on Friday. During the event, he shared valuable advice with upcoming directors and gave insights into his upcoming projects, including his highly anticipated film Tumko Meri Kasam. Bhatt also spoke about the changing landscape of the film industry and the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

On the topic of the future of filmmaking and the rise of AI, Bhatt emphasized the importance for filmmakers to stay updated with technological advancements. He warned, “Read about AI… understand what’s happening in the world today and what’s going to happen. The scenario is changing every day… In the next three to four years, we don’t know what will happen… AI is going to take over. It’s very important to learn this today… everything else can be learned later. As for writing, I don’t know if AI will be able to replace it… perhaps AI won’t be able to do the writing because AI works based on data it’s been fed, and as it progresses, it begins to understand data and starts to think. This is artificial intelligence. It’s crucial to know how we can use AI to improve our work.”

While talking about the talented actress Adah Sharma, Bhatt praised her for maintaining the innocence she portrayed in the 2008 hit film 1920. He said, “The innocence that Adah had in 1920 is still there… it's a good thing… in the film industry, this innocence hasn't been blended into the colors yet… Adah has maintained her own unique color, and it’s a very strong one that doesn’t fade away.”

Vikram Bhatt also gave a sneak peek into his upcoming project Tumko Meri Kasam, which is described as an intense family drama. “It’s a very important film,” he said. “I’ve left behind making all the horror films and have focused on a drama. This film is inspired by one of the pioneers of IVF in India, Ajay Muradia. It’s a family film, a love story, and a thriller. It’s a very intense drama. If you like a good story, you should definitely watch it."

Tumko Meri Kasam featuring Anupam kher, Ishwak Singh, Adah Sharma, Esha Deol is all set to hit the cinemas on 21 March, 2025.
