World Premiere Of Sumo Didi At Tokyo International Film Festival

Jio Studios drops the first look poster for Sumo Didi, the film will have its world premiere at prestigious Tokyo International Film Festival. The film is a biopic on India’s only professional female sumo wrestler Hetal Dave titled Sumo Didi, starring Shriyam Bhagnani.

 

Sharing the poster and premiere deeds, the official handle of Jio Studios tweeted, “Tokyo Welcomes Sumo Didi! An ode to India’s first Female Sumo wrestler, the film will have its World Premiere at #TokyoInternationalFilmFestival. On the poster, actress Shriyam showcases her in a tough and determined character, getting into the stance of sumo wrestler before the bout. 

 

Jayant Rohatgi, who is making his directorial debut with Sumo Didi, the film also stars Nitesh Pandey, Chaitanya Sharma, Raghav Dhir and more. 

 

Hetal Dave, the inspiration behind the film, made history as India’s first and only female sumo wrestler, and in 2008, she even made it into the Limca Book of Records. 

 

Sumo Didi is a film that promises to inspire and empower viewers with its portrayal of a remarkable woman who shattered stereotypes and demonstrated that one’s gender doesn’t restrict their potential.
