This is a story from the 1930s recalling the triumph of the University of Washington's rowing team, from their Depression-era beginnings to competing at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
It's adapted from the bestselling book of the same name by Daniel James Brown. The film stars Joel Edgerton and Callum Turner, with Jack Mulhern, Sam Strike, Peter Guinness, Alec Newman, Luke Slattery, Thomas Elms, Tom Varey, and Bruce Herbelin-Earle.
The film is about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the world.
The screenplay is written by Mark L. Smith, produced by Grant Heslov and George Clooney. The film is slated for December 25th, 2023, on Christmas Day, release.
