During the meeting following the ceremony, President Murmu expressed her appreciation for the excellent bilateral ties that Seychelles and India have enjoyed in various sectors for almost half a century.
The President reiterated the interest of the Indian Government to continue collaborating with Seychelles at bilateral level as well as in regional and multilateral arenas, in order to explore new avenues to boost the cooperation of both countries in beneficial areas, and most importantly, to further cement the people-to-people ties.
On her part, the newly accredited Seychelles High Commissioner conveyed the warm greetings of President Wavel Ramkalawan and the people of Seychelles to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the people of India.
High Commissioner Accouche also conveyed the appreciation of Seychelles’ Government for all the support and contribution from India towards Seychelles' economic development since its Independence in 1976, including the provision of vaccines in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
High Commissioner Accouche expressed the wish to see a new impetus to the relations between Seychelles and India during her tenure, based on mutual understanding and respect.
Reiterating her appreciation of seeing a woman representing her country, President Murmu assured High Commissioner Accouche of the Indian authorities’ full support in this endeavour.
Seychelles and India established Diplomatic relations in 1976.
