Al menos 21 personas murieron el jueves a causa de un incendio en el norte de la Franja de Gaza, inform el grupo Hamas que gobierna el territorio.
Este es uno de los incidentes con mayor nmero de vctimas fatales en aos recientes ajeno al conflicto entre israeles y palestinos.
El incendio estall en el tercer piso de un edificio de tres niveles en el atestado campamento de refugiados Jabaliya, indic Hamas.
La Defensa Civil de Gaza, la cual es operada por Hamas, atribuy el incendio a los contenedores de gasolina que se encontraban almacenados en el edificio. De momento se desconoce cmo se prendi fuego.
Las autoridades anunciaron el inicio de una investigacin.
Gaza se encuentra sometida a un fuerte bloqueo por Israel y Egipto y enfrenta una grave crisis de energa. Las personas a menudo almacenan gas para cocinar, disel y gasolina en viviendas en preparacin para el invierno. En el pasado se haban reportado algunos incendios en viviendas a causa de velas o fugas de gas.
El presidente de la Autoridad Nacional Palestina Mahmoud Abbas ofreci sus condolencias a las familias de los fallecidos y declar el viernes como un da de duelo.
