Chennai, June 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Dharmapuri district administration has banned visitors from entering the Hogenakkal waterfalls area as Cauvery's inflow into the river has crossed 16,000 cusecs.
District Collector, S. Divyadarshini on Tuesday also suspended coracle rides in the dam area due to the heavy gushing of waters. Water has been released from Kabini and Krishnaraja Sagar reserves in Karnataka due to heavy and continuous rains.
The district administration also forbids people from crossing the river and bathing livestock. The district collector also said that ban on tourists and coracle operations will continue till further orders.
The inflow into the Mettur dam also increased to 10,410 cusecs on Tuesday and the state water works department said that heavy rains are the reason behind the increase in water level at the dam.
The water level at Mettur dam stood at 114.75 feet against its full capacity of 120 feet.
