Gripping and intriguing series based on human drug trials, helmed by Mozez Singh, starring Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari is making headlines even after weeks of its release.
Disney Plus Hotstar series portrays about the underbelly of human drug testing and the world of medical scams, that aims to expose the nexus between pharmaceutical companies, large private hospitals and government officials who exploit the poor in human trials for new drugs.
Team NewsHelpline asked Mozez Singh if he was worried about big pharma coming after him post series or thought about diluting the truth a little, he said, “It wasn’t difficult at all to tell the tale; we had all the facts and figures in the place. The writing was based on research and data, so it was easier for me to make it, as I didn’t have to make up half of the stuff. My producer was also very supportive, and empowering, he never once shied away from telling the truth, even more that Hotstar supported us wholeheartedly. We had discussions about creative aspects but never but bending the truth”
The series found its niche audience and has been making rounds at award functions. Only issue people had with the series, was it was too long, but Mozez says it was conscious decision, and perhaps with second season he will offer a shorter version.
He said, “When we wrote it, and Hotstar greenlit the project, I was certain that it will be a 10-episode story and we wrote the entire story within those episodes, but it was 2019 when we started on this project. So, I never thought it was lengthy, of course now the palate of audience has changed, and we will try to write a shorter second season, which we are discussing it right now”
Talking about his future projects, Mozez added, “I am working on my next film already, it is a feature film for a big OTT platform, I cannot tell you much now, but it is set in the world of hip-hop, I am working on it. I have a book that I wrote last year, which will out in March”
