Universal Pictures drops the first official trailer for Dear Evan Hansen, it is based on the award-winning Broadway musical of the same name.
The film is helmed by Stephen Chbosky, starring Ben Platt, Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever, Danny Pino, Amandla Stenberg, Nik Dodani, Colton Ryan, and DeMarius Copes.
Ben Platt reprises the role of a high school senior with severe social anxiety, who gets caught in a lie when a classmate dies by suicide, which in turn brings Evan closer to the departed’s family while also finally allowing him to grow outside his own shell.
When Evan Hansen, a high school student with social anxiety disorder, has a therapeutic self-intended letter stolen by a classmate, who later dies by suicide, their family mistakes it for being sent to Evan by their son. Evan inserts himself into the boy's past, throwing him into a series of inspiring, duplicitous, and confrontational events.
The lyrics and music is written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Scripted by Steven Levenson, who wrote the book for the musical, Dear Evan Hansen will be released in theatres on September 24th.
