A Facebook post by Vartika Tiwari gave me the idea to make ‘Trivedi Ji’ says Rajesh Tailang

Actor-filmmaker Rajesh Tailang, who has directed a short film titled ‘Trivedi Ji’, has said that actress Vartika Tiwari’s post on Facebook gave him the idea to make film based on nationwide lockdown during Covid-19 pandemic.

Rajesh Tailang was interacting with News Helpline to promote ‘Trivedi Ji’ in Mumbai.

‘Trivedi Ji’, directed by Rajesh Tailang and written by Vartika Tiwari and Tailang, tells the story of a woman stuck in her apartment during the COVID-19 pandemic and trying to survive on depleting food supplies and conversations with her aloe vera plant. Despite being shot on a phone and with limited resources, the short film boasts of some great cinematography and editing. And Vartika Tiwari’s committed performance sells the anxiety, confusion, and depression that we have all faced during this never-ending lockdown.

Talking about how he decided to make the film, Tailang said, “We made this film during lockdown. When all of us were literally under house arrest during lockdown, that time lead actress of this film Vartika (Tiwari) wrote a post on Facebook and from that post, I decided to make this film. I talked to her about the film. Then through video calls, I did a remote direction. She shot herself and that’s how we made the film. I am going to send this film to two to three film festivals and later it will stream on Theatre Talkies YouTube channel.”

Talking about audience response to ‘Trivedi Ji’ Tailang said, “I am feeling really glad that people are praising my film. Basically, I am an actor but sometimes I try my hands in direction, so if people are appreciating the film then I am happy about it.”

Talking about his upcoming projects, Tailang said, “I am working in ‘Pagglait’. The web series’ which I did earlier, their next seasons are going to release soon. I will start shooting for two new web series; one is with Netflix and another one is for Hotstar. I am also a part of one film but I am not allowed to talk about it.”

‘Pagglait’ is a comedy-drama film written and directed by Umesh Bist. The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga and Achin Jain under the banners Balaji Motion Pictures and Sikhya Entertainment.

The film features Sanya Malhotra, Shruti Sharma, Sayani Gupta, Sheeba Chaddha, Ashutosh Rana, Rajesh Tailang and Raghubir Yadav in key roles.
