Milind Soman booked for posting an obscene picture on social media

Actor and fitness icon Milind Soman has been booked by Goa Police for posting an obscene picture on his social media account. Currently, Soman is on a vacation in Goa along with his wife Ankita Konwar. The couple celebrated his 55^th birthday on Wednesday.

On his birthday, Soman posted a nude picture of himself on his Instagram handle and wrote, “Happy birthday to me ! #55”.

In the picture, Soman can be seen running nude on a sea shore and it was clicked by his wife Ankita.

A case has been registered against him under IPC Section 294 (Obscene acts and songs) and 67 (Punishment for publishing/transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of IT Act for his social media post.

The South Goa district police on Thursday booked Soman for promoting obscenity, days after a nude photograph of the former supermodel while running on a beach went viral.

Pankaj Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police South Goa stated that a case has been registered at Colva Police Station under Section 294 IPC and 67 IT Act against Soman.

Earlier, Milind Soman and his then-girlfriend, Madhu Sapre, an ex-Miss India and model, attracted controversy when the pair posed nude in a print ad for Tuffs Shoes. The social service branch of the Mumbai police had registered a case in August 1995 after Sapre and Soman posed in the nude, wearing only shoes and a python wrapped around them.

Another case was filed under the Wildlife Protection Act against the advertising agency for illegal use of the python.

Soman is actively involved in many social activities amongst which, he is a founder member of Pinkathon Marathon that supports the cause of breast cancer all over India.

Milind Soman’s last film was ‘Chef’ (2017) which also starred Saif Ali Khan and Padmapriya Janakiraman. He was also a part of Amazon Prime Videos web series ‘Four More Shots Please!’ which released in 2019.
