Delhi riots: Rajdhani School owner sent to 14 days judicial custody

New Delhi, July 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) A Delhi court on Tuesday sent a private school owner to 14 days judicial custody in a case related to communal violence in Delhi's northeast area during the anti-CAA protests in February.

Faisal Farooq, the owner of Rajdhani School in Shiv Vihar locality, was arrested for his alleged involvement in damaging the property of the adjacent school during the riots. On June 20, he was granted bail but was arrested two days later in a separate case of rioting.

Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav has now sent him to judicial custody till July 21 in connection with the case, confirmed his lawyer. On Monday, the court had sent him to police custody by setting aside a June 24 order of a magistrate's court which had refused to grant it.

"There is a mute question which stares us at our face as to how a huge catapult can be fixed in the building belonging to the respondent," the court had said, while remanding him to the custody of the police.

During the course of proceedings, advocate R.K. Kochar told the court that his client has been falsely and deliberately arrested due to the political pressure.

With regards to the first case, the trial court had granted him bail on the ground that it was prima facie not established that he was present at the spot at the time of incident.

The police had, however, challenged it before the Delhi High Court which had first put a stay on the trial court's order but later vacated it.

The Delhi Police has already filed a charge sheet against him for rioting, criminal conspiracy, dacoity, promoting enmity between different groups and attempt to murder of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

The charge sheet states that Farooq had hatched a conspiracy to precipitate and aggravate riots, in and around Rajdhani School. On his instructions, the adjacent and rival DRP Convent School, 2 parking lots run by the other party and the building of Anil Sweets were systematically destroyed by the mob.
