Bengaluru: Karnataka Assembly Speaker Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri presides over a meeting of parliamentarians and legal experts to review the relevance of the Constitutionâs 10th schedule introduced in 1985 to check defections (anti-defection law), at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on May 28, 2020. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla constituted a three-member committee of Speakers of Karnataka, Rajasthan and Odisha Legislative Assemblies to review the relevance of the anti-defection law. The meeting was also attended by Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, state Cabinet Ministers, Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah, and Congress and JD-S leaders.
