Asha Devi, mother of the woman known now to the world as 'Nirbhaya', on Monday said that she was "losing faith" in the "system" as "it seemed that the system only worked the way the accused want it to work."
The distraught mother made the statement to the media as the date of the death penalty for the four convicts has once again been deferred "till further orders."
The court of Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana on Monday issued orders to defer the execution of the four convicts "till further orders" after the court was informed that Pawan Gupta had filed a mercy petition before the President on Monday morning.
The four convicts were scheduled to be hanged on March 3, as per the order passed on February 17. However, rapid developments on Monday changed the course of events.
