​Makers Unveil Shukrana Gul Khile From Shikara

After dropping Mar Jaayein Hum, the makers of Shikara are out with one of the most authentic Kashmiri wedding song from the forthcoming drama Shikara.

The official handle of Fox Star Hindi dropped the song on social media. They captioned it, “An authentic Kashmiri Pandit wedding of yesteryears. Song out now: #HumWapasAayenge #Shikara #ShikaraSong #VidhuVinodChopra @VVCFilms @abhaysopori @ZeeMusicCompany”

The song is titled Shukrana Gul Khile, and it’s been composed by Abhay Rustum Sopori, written by Bashir Arif and crooned by Munir Ahmad Mir. The song features the leading pair Aadil Khan and Sadia, who is getting married. The song is vibrant, colourful and joyous, perhaps a reminder to the audience that Kashmiri Pandits indeed had a life, full of emotion, which was eventually taken away due to ill-political intentions.

The film is written, edited, directed and co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who hails it as a love letter to Kashmir. In his recent media interaction, Chopra said, “Shikara​ is about my mom’s home, my home and how we lost that home. So it’s a deeply personal story. But despite all that my mother went through, she only had love for the people, for the valley, for our home, and that love truly overpowered every other emotion that she may have felt–be it disappointment, anger or loss. And that’s why I made this movie”

Shikara - The Untold Story of Kashmiri Pandits is based on the Kashmiri pandit exodus from Kashmir. The film is set to release on 7 February 2020.
