New Delhi, Dec 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Bar Council of Delhi has welcomed the Delhi government's decision to allocate Rs 50 crore for welfare of lawyers under the Chief Minister Advocate Welfare Scheme.
"This is a remarkable beginning to provide social security to advocates in Delhi. It has happened first time in the history of legal profession at the behest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Law Minister Kailash Gahlot," a release from the bar body read.
The scheme would cover nearly 40,000 advocates in Delhi, whose law degrees had been verified and those who had cleared the AIBE, as per the available records, in exercise of powers under the Bar Council of India Certificate & Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015 and All India Bar Examination Rules and were voters in various Bar Associations, said K.C. Mittal, Chairman, Bar Council of Delhi, in a statement.
"It's a proud occasion for the committee established by government of NCT of Delhi. Much more is to be done so that all the practicing advocates are comprehensively covered under welfare schemes. Let us work together for more comprehensive schemes for all the advocates," Mittal said.
